Chenoa High School Staff
|
I was secretary/bookkeeper in the Chenoa Unit District #9 superintendent's office for 22 years -- from the 1951-52 school year through the 1973-74 year. Harley Seybold, Ralph Woolard and Gene Jontry were the three superintendents I worked under. I learned much from them -- as well as from the great teachers I came to know at the high school. We all became good friends. Hugo, my husband, was an avid sports fan, and together we attended as many football, basketball and baseball games as we possibly could, along with the many track meets held here. Hugo was the official basketball scorekeeper for all home games for about 16 years. We both graduated from Chenoa High School in 1936. Our sons graduated from Chenoa Community High School, Jerry in 1962 and Tom in 1967. Our family has always been interested in Chenoa schools and we have appreciated the fine curriculum offered there. Hugo passed away May 20, 1996, and we lost Jerry, who was an anesthetist, on February 5, 2001. Tom graduated from the University of Illinois, then on to Butler University in Indiana for his degree in Pharmacy. He and his family live in Indianapolis where he is employed by the Eli Lilly pharmaceutical company. I have seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, the joys of my life. I continue to do some writing, volunteering, and I spend my winters in Sarasota, Florida. Evelyn
