Jerold Reis December 1, 1944 - February 5, 2001 Jerold
Michael Reis, known affectionately as "Jerr" or "Jerry",
was born in Santa Monica, California on December 1, 1944. When he
was almost two years old, he came to Chenoa with his parents, Hugo
and Evy Reis. Jerry
attended Bluffton College in Bluffton, Ohio, for a year and a half.
During summers he worked as an orderly at Mennonite Hospital in Bloomington,
then decided to become a registered nurse. He entered the Mennonite
Hospital School of Nursing, with his senior year being paid by the
U.S. Army. After graduation he was inducted into the U.S. Army, and
after basic training and other places of service here, he was sent
to Vietnam for almost two years. Needless to say, he came home a changed
person. The Army then sent him to Tacoma, Washington, where he received
training as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. This became
his career and he was truly dedicated to his work and his patients.
His last place of employment was at Elkview Hospital in Hobart, Oklahoma,
where he was loved and respected for his abilities in his field. submitted
