Chapter Two of my life
Chapter One of my life
I left Illinois in 1963 for California where I met my husband and married in 1976. We then moved to Washington in 1978 and left for Denver in 1984 and returned to Washington in 1985. We live on a boat on Lake Union (Seattle) and have a place in Southern California to dry out occasionally. My husband is retired and plays golf and captains the Hobbit, pictured above. I on the other hand may work forever. I have an insurance agency (Allstate) that keeps me out of trouble. I do try to get away and travel as much as I can. The
Hobbit is a 1954 Army T-Boat built for the Korean war. She is 100
tons and 70 feet long. She was not put into service due to the war
being over but instead given to the federal prison system. She was
named the JP Madigan and ferried prisoners and guests to Alcatraz
Island until the prison closed, then sent to McNiel Island in Washington
for the same use until it was salvaged in the late 80s. She was bought
and refurbished by the prior owner who went to Alaska every year for
10 years. We were lucky enough to find her and make her our home.
This is the second boat we have lived aboard and love it. Our view
is the space needle and downtown Seattle. We hope to have the time
soon to go north through the inland passage. |
